Broken Record????

I feel like my life revolves solely around how well the baby sleeps. It seems that that is all I talk about when people ask how we're doing. I guess it's probably that way for most mothers, but somehow I need to get past it.

Now, with that said, I have to tell you about last night. :) It's so funny that I had to post about it.

I got all the girls to bed and was laying down about 11:15 when I heard the baby. OK, I can handle this. At least I wasn't asleep yet. I go in feed her and fall asleep burping her. At 1:00am I wake up to a hysterical crying 2 year old and two confused big girls following behind her. I tell the big girls to go back to bed, lay the baby down and head to put the 2 year old to bed. While I'm trying to settle her the 7 yr old kept coming in:

7 yr old: "I can't sleep, Mom."

Me:
"Sorry, go lay down while I try to get this one to sleep."

7 yr old:
"OK."

3 MINUTES LATER

Me to 7 yr old: "What are you doing up again."

7 yr old: "I can't go back to sleep."

Me: "Yes, I know that. I said go lay down and I'll be there in a minute."

7 yr old: "OK."

Rinse and repeat about 4 more times!!!

I finally get the 2 yr old to stay in her bed and go lay down with the 7 yr old. I wasn't sure how long I laid there, but I knew that I needed to get up. I told her to stay in bed and that I was going to lay in my own bed. I pass by the baby's room and guess what.....baby is awake! Ahhhhh.......

At this point it's around 2:30am. I go in, feed her again, fall asleep burping her and finally get up around 3:00am to put her down. As soon as I put her down, she wakes up. Time for Mommy to go to a quiet room and beat her head against the wall.

Luckily, at this point, Dad takes over and I got about 4 hours of sleep. I was told this morning that baby stayed awake, as happy as could be, until 4:00am before she FINALLY fell asleep and Dad could come to bed.

Whew!! I know a whole family that will be going to bed early tonight!!

It will get better! I know that is not helpful now though. I hope tonight goes better.

Oh it's nice to hear even though I know it. :) Thanks for the well wishes. I hope that it's better too. I'm thinking she needs more reflux meds, but I guess we'll see what the doc says.

There were several times that I seriously thought about just laying down on the floor of the landing between upstairs and downstairs and just go to sleep and leave toddlers and babies crying up stairs and downstairs.

You will survive - I promise - it stinks while it is going on though - that is FOR sure!

I know what you mean Holly. I have laid outside the baby's room before on the floor. I can't remember if it was Jacie or Laiken though. :)

Sorry you are not getting the rest you need. Hopefully she will be back to sleeping all night soon.

Hang in there!

I think her daycare lady nailed it on the head. She suggested that we see if we could increase her reflux meds because she was acting like she did before she was on meds. We did and she's been great since then. Yea!!!
