Homeschool TEMPORARY solution

I am so excited! I had an epihany last night! I think, for now, I have found a solution to my guilt of not being home with my kids during the day and homeschooling.

Before, when we would work on their homework, I would set them up at the table and while they were doing their homework, I would do the dishes or straighten the kitchen............ just busy doing something other than sitting with them and watching what they were doing.

Last night, I cleared off the table (a big deal in my house lately) and sat down with them. I treated it like a "classroom" and both of them like they were my students. I told them I expected them to give me the same respect that they give their teachers and act like they were at school. We need to work on them respecting eachother like they do their classmates, but we'll get there.

Amazingly enough, it worked. We be bopped our way through their homework and all was well. I enjoyed the closeness with them and I think they did too.

Wow! I might actually get this mom thing down before they graduate and move out. :)
